Khan Wars is a free-to-play MMORTS accessible via a web browser. While this game works well on a PC or tablet, playing on a mobile device requires a few adjustments.

If you’ve played other RTS titles before, getting used to the system here is easy. Clicking certain locations in your city gives access to a facility’s status screen. Choose the corresponding command to either upgrade, accelerate an existing construction, or check the productivity of your buildings. This is the same for military structures, where the bulk of your resources will go to in the name of game advancement.

Building upgrades and research take time, and also follow the “more time for higher levels rule”. You can advance production levels reasonably fast by staying around for 5 hours without using any speed-up items. While you get time accelerator consumables as rewards, expect to learn to use them sparingly, unless you are willing to get more through in-app purchases. Developing buildings will be less of a problem once you hit mid-game stages.

Troop development stands at the heart of the game. Build up your army, lay siege, and conquer your enemy’s depleted city. There are technologies to develop so that your soldiers are leagues ahead of a defending encampment. Player settlements are conquered by sending a Nobleman to reduce their loyalty until the place is yours for the taking. This lets you manage more resources for higher building upgrades to your main city. With more resources, you can raise new armies for more ambitious conquests.

There is also a knight system. Send your most powerful warrior out to complete missions and be rewarded with equipment. These gear pieces carry bonuses to your production or troop strength. The rarer the item, the higher the chance for better stats. You can also allot skill points to help you become a better lord and commander of your settlement.

In Khan Wars, only the best commanders can vie for supremacy.
